Japan’s Tmsuk and Waseda University have created one of the most incredible robots ever. Frankly speaking, their creations have always been nice and amazing but now they are even more than that. Their new robot comes with a completely human-like face that is capable of expressing true emotions and even feelings.

The Readybot Robot Challenge is a non-profit research group who recently released an amazing video of its Readybot that cleans a family room full of toys and clutter. This video of the Readybot Robot Challenge is the second video that follows its previous video of a kitchen cleaning robot.

Benson Readybot Director stresses on the fact that the future of the robotics is very bright. At times robots will be bought part by part and will be assembled to be a complete one just like the computers. The robot arms, bases, video systems could be made by different vendors and then plugged together.

Robot Mimics Monkey’s Brain Signals

Through a high-speed internet connection, the brain signals of a monkey in North Carolina are transmitted to a robot in Kyoto, Japan, where the robot mimics the monkey’s every movement.

Robot mimics monkey

This was last week’s joint demonstration put on by the Japan Science And Technology Agency and Duke University, who say it is the first time brain signals have ever been used to make a robot walk. Electronic impulses in the monkey’s brain were transmitted halfway around the world into the robot, demonstrating that signals can be transmitted across the Earth in the same time scale that a biological system works. It is also an exciting experiment that may one day lead to enabling paralyzed people to walk using robotics controlled by brain signals.

Pleo Just The Beginning In Automated Pets Yet To Come

pleo-delay-thumbAfter numerous delays and release-date changes, the robotic Camarasaurus from California-based robotics manufacturers Ugobe has officially been launched. The robotic toy-pet was designed by Caleb Chung, co-creator of the Furby, which could be considered one of the earliest forms of virtual-pets. The Pleo features lifelike movement and sound, and according to Ugobe, each Pleo will “learn” from its experiences and environment through a sophisticated artificial intelligence and develop an individual personality. The robot is software-upgradable via SD card or USB interfaces and comes with a $350 price tag.

While in its current state the Pleo is mostly regarded as a toy. However, it’s predicted that the virtual pet may very well be the beginning of a huge wave of inexpensive robots yet to come, designed to offer people companionship the same way a living pet would.
