Nokia is and always has been a leading manufacturer of mobile phones.

A couple of days ago in Spain was finally released the Nokia N97 mobile phone that was going to make a revolution, and to be a main opponent and competitor of a popular iPhone. But it turned out that the company is a bit late with introducing it since iPhone has already conquered the hearts of millions of people and the Nokia N97 has a lot of steps ahead in order to prove her reliability and functionality.

Let’s start from the very beginning. Name. It’s not a name, it’s a title, a combination of letters. Some can claim that it is too impersonal and such abbreviations will never beat real names like RAZR. But, have you ever heard about BMW Accord or Getz? Does this option influenced the production numbers? Here it is all about prestige and both words and simply letters can convey it.

Then the following phone is reported to be the new Flagship touchscreen mobile phone. It was designed to rock the world of Internet lovers, since the Nokia N97offers a large 3.5″ touch display with a full QWERTY keyboard, thus allowing to have an ‘always open’ window to popular social sites and Internet destinations.

And it is not bad, what is more the phone features 5 megapixel camera with flash, 3G, WiFi, GPS and 32GB on board expandable to 48Gb.

A lot of critics claim that Symbian is no longer the hot platform. Who knows but what I like the most it still works and there are no problems with it.

User interface is completely Nokia-like – not the easiest one but interesting and aesthetically nice.

The Nokia N97 is a bit thicker than iPhone, but I think it happens because of her QWERTY keyboard. Anyway, the N97 is not so cold to touch, it is warm and pleasant.

It will be available during the middle of next year and a retail price set at around €550 ($693) excluding subsidies and taxes. I think it has all chances to be a decent and excellent iPhone killer, since it has much more functions than any Apple, its camera and sound features are excellent, and it looks great and it is new and hot. Love Nokia it never fails and any iPhone is more about seemingly luxury and style )))

The N-Gage, a taco-shaped phone/gaming system that failed horribly shortly after it’s original launch in October 2003, has apparently resurfaced after all these years as a software application. While you can still see the pile of N-Gage games on the shelves of Gamestops all over the country, the concept behind the gaming phone might just be more plausible in this format. As phones evolved after the initial launch of the device, people soon found out that the N-Gage games could actually be played on other devices, making the phone itself obsolete.

This new attempt to take over the mobile gaming market, which has surprisingly been under developed in the way of online multiplayer games since the N-Gage’s last incarnation, will allow all future Nokia users the ability to enjoy mobile gaming on a new level. If you currently own a N81 you should be able to download the demo software already and I believe they have actually hacked it to make it compatible will all Nokia model’s boasting the proper hardware. What this means is we may actually see mobile gaming taken seriously. It’s been attempted before and with portable gaming systems losing their wired connections, it shouldn’t be to difficult to make this into a reality instead of the failed mess it currently is.

When things like this come around, it almost makes me regret my iPhone.

Nokia has recently announced the launch of two handsets aimed at consumers in emerging markets. One of them is Nokia 1209, one of the cheapest propositions on market today.

Very similar to it’s predecessor, Nokia 1208, this unit presents maximum functionality for less bucks. But even for $50 it has color display and polyphonic ringtones. But the main feature is the multiuser address book. Though this mobile is aimed for countries where people can’t afford buying mobiles for every person in the family, Nokia’s developers made address book with multiuser access. That means that everyone in the family can use the unit and have it’s own password protected list of numbers. Yes, this definitely make sense for target countries – India, China, Brazil, Pakistan, Vietnam, Russia and Egypt.

The main idea of this device сan be described by one sentence from official press release – “Designed for first time buyers, the Nokia 1209 incorporates Nokia’s intuitive user interface, dust resistance, and offers up to 80 languages. The Nokia 1209 also has a one-piece key mat for durability and reliability.”

Nokia 1209 will appear in stores this fall.
