LG KF 600 Venus I remember my first acquaintance with a little gadget called a mobile phone. Frankly speaking, I didn’t even think to take it seriously. Yeah, I thought it was great because it let its owner talk to anyone, and anywhere, and without wires… But, first of all, prices were extremely high and phones were heavy and weird. It was only the beginning… Who ever would have thought it!

Gone are the days, when mobile phones resembled everything but a tool for communication, when these phones used to be a status symbol, and a privilege of exceptionally the rich and famous. Now there are a lot of people around us who seem to be having a hot conversation with the palm of their hand.

NEC Announces Transparent Flask Phone

Flask Phone Coming some time in ’08 will be the new NEC Flask Phone, a transparent touchscreen cell phone that runs on a liquid battery. The idea is that you can actually see the cell fluid disappear as you use your phone so you know how much power you have left, similar to the fluid in a lighter.

The phone has a valve on the bottom to refill the coloured fuel. The fluid looks to come in fluorescent green, blue or red, with an eye-catching lava lamp sort of aesthetic. No telling how much the fluid will cost, however. In fact, NEC has released little information thus far about the Flask Phone other than photos. No word on the exact release date, specs, pricing or networks.

Nokia 1209

Nokia has recently announced the launch of two handsets aimed at consumers in emerging markets. One of them is Nokia 1209, one of the cheapest propositions on market today.

Very similar to it’s predecessor, Nokia 1208, this unit presents maximum functionality for less bucks. But even for $50 it has color display and polyphonic ringtones. But the main feature is the multiuser address book. Though this mobile is aimed for countries where people can’t afford buying mobiles for every person in the family, Nokia’s developers made address book with multiuser access. That means that everyone in the family can use the unit and have it’s own password protected list of numbers. Yes, this definitely make sense for target countries – India, China, Brazil, Pakistan, Vietnam, Russia and Egypt.

The main idea of this device сan be described by one sentence from official press release – “Designed for first time buyers, the Nokia 1209 incorporates Nokia’s intuitive user interface, dust resistance, and offers up to 80 languages. The Nokia 1209 also has a one-piece key mat for durability and reliability.”

Nokia 1209 will appear in stores this fall.
