One of the best torrent sites out there, ThePirateBay.org, has unfortunately just been involved in one of the largest cases regarding BitTorrent with it’s results not looking good for it’s users. The Danish International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has just concluded their case against a large internet service provider in that area, Tele2, resulting in the banning of ThePirateBay.org for all of it’s users. This seems to be a concept that is going to be taken world wide, as the IFPI in many different countries are seeking to take action against ISP’s who allow their users to access torrenting sites. Their case stated that by not restricting access to sites of this nature, the ISP’s are actually assisting in copyright infringement themselves.

While not all torrenting is of the illegal nature, a majority of its use is centered around activities like that. However, ThePirateBay.org stands firmly behind the right for everyone to view their site and have actually found a way to circumvent the restrictions put in place by Tele2 by redirecting all of their users to JesperBay.org. Jesper Bay gains it’s name from the leader of the Danish IFPI, who has influenced the Danish government to allow this record company controlled organization to impose an action like within it’s borders. Imagine what will happen if more and more countries stop making these decisions for themselves and start allowing media entities such as the IFPI enter their courts.
